I said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again.. blog, I still love you and I haven’t purposely abandoned you, I promise. This time I have a darn good excuse if I do say so myself but I am here to reassure you that after taking a bit of an unofficial hiatus for a few months I’m back and ready to tackle summer ’11 with some fancy new gear.

I thought I would leave you with this teaser shot from a lovely maternity session I had this evening with a sweet little family... which also doubles as a hint as to why I've been MIA for the last few months :)

Baby K by Danielle Gillan

So I am well aware that I have been MIA for a few months.. my sincerest apologies!!! I have been a busy bee working behind the scenes on technical photog stuff that I won't bore you with.. instead I'll share a peek of a few favourites of sweet baby K whom I visited a few weeks ago at 3 weeks old. Enjoy!

Redecorating fun by Danielle Gillan

So I have been putting off decorating for so long, just waiting for that 'right' time to paint. Now that I am starting to dream of it in my sleep it is time to do something about it.. new paint or not! Yes, we have been in our house almost 2 years and it is shameful how much decorating we have done! We did our bedroom last year...

so now it is our lonely living room's turn! Before you judge.. it isn't always this empty, I cleared alot of stuff out just for this experiment so I could start with a blank slate. So painting aside for another day, I thought I would put all those beautiful products I offer to use and start putting them up in our house. Check out the before...

and my after mockup...

(our beautiful wedding portraits are the work of the amazing Heather Wilkinson)

I realize that colour is still needed and the paint will come hopefully this summer (along with the drywall to cover the plates from the wall sconces we removed)... but it is a drastic improvement with a few small steps. I am definately no interior designer but being able to create these mockups in Photoshop makes it so much easier to visualize how it will come together!

Hope you enjoyed this example of how you can use canvas wraps and standouts to decorate your home! Now excuse me while I run to Wicker Emporium to get that shelf you see at 50% off.. :)
